Pusa Mountain

East Ridge of Pusa Mt

Overview

Overview

Pusa Mountain (普萨山) is a prominent peak located southeast of Haba Village (哈巴村), elevation 3,090 meters. The ascent up and back takes around 4 hours, excluding breaks, and requires some bushwhacking. Hiring a guide will relieve the burden of route-finding.

Route Description

Route Description

The hike coincides with the Haba-Benxi Route as far as the Southwest Ridge of Pusa Mountain, elev. 3,030 meters. See that page for details.

Having arrived at the ridge, turn left (north) and make the final ascent toward the views on top, with short stretches of bushwhacking.

For a different experience of Pusa Mountain, traverse the peak from east to west. Hiking time is about the same, 4 hours excluding breaks. Arrange a lift to the high point of the auto road between Haba and Ennu villages. Starting there, follow the East Ridge on a rough path over several knobs to the top. Descend the West Ridge a short distance and veer southwest, bushwacking through the forest toward meadows of the Haba-Benxi Route. Be sure to avoid the steep terrain to the north. Continue the descent on that route to Haba Village.
